    Where is the event located?
    BLK in the South Summit will be held at:

    What is the dress code?
    Comfortable/Casual

    Who should attend?
    First and foremost, the audience is the Black community. The BLK in the South Summit is curated for local community members, college students, Southern HIV activists, national movement leaders, and allies who intentionally and actively support the Black community in addressing HIV and want to see HIV no more in the Black community.

    Can I attend if I am not Black or African American?
    The event has been created for and by Black individuals. However, other races and allies are welcome, provided they understand that they are in a Black space.

    How often will this event take place?
    Currently, BLK in the South Summit is not an annual event. The founder understands the "urgency of now" and has decided to hold this summit during a crucial presidential election year.

    How do I let you know about dietary restrictions?
    The registration form will ask about any dietary restrictions.

    Will childcare be provided at the event?
    We are currently assessing our capacity for childcare; however, please indicate if childcare will be needed on the registration form.

    How can I learn about sponsorship opportunities?

    How do I register?
    To register, please click here and complete the registration and payment.

    What is included in registration?
    Registration includes access to the main session, workshops, the vendor marketplace, provided meals (see agenda for specifics),i and unlimited moments of JOY! Afterglow: A Celebration of Blackness is $10.00

    Can I attend the summit virtually?
    Please note there is no virtual attendance option for this summit.

    Can I register on behalf of someone else?
    No. If you have a specific situation regarding registering someone else, please email info@blkinthesouth.org

    Can I register on-site for the event?
    No. To accommodate all our attendees better, we ask that you register only by September 6.

    May I register by paper or in person?
    If you require special accommodations for registration, please email info@blkinthesouth.org.

  • Is my attendance required at all the sessions?
    No, however, to maximize your summit experience, we strongly encourage you to attend all the sessions. We value personal wellness and understand the need to take breaks as needed.

    Will an interpreter be present at the session?
    We are accessing the need. Please indicate the need for interpretation/translations on the registration form.

    May I stay at a different hotel?
    Yes, but we strongly encourage you to use the hotel block for a competitive, discounted rate. We also understand those coming in for the United States Conference on HIV and AIDS will stay at that host hotel.

    Does the hotel include parking?

  • Which airport should I fly to?
    We recommend flying into the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport (MSY).

    How do I get from the airport to the hotel, to the Summit or Afterglow venue?
    We recommend using a ride-share service or calling a taxi.

    Is there a courtesy shuttle service at the hotel?

    Will any session require me to travel to a location different from the Courtyard?

  • No, you will not be able to receive a refund. However, you can transfer the registration to someone else or donate to the Summit.

  • Ensuring the health and safety of our summit attendees is our topmost priority. Although we will not enforce vaccines or masks, we strongly recommend that all attendees wear masks while on our premises if that is their preference. We also urge everyone to practice social distancing.

    We are particularly concerned about the health and well-being of individuals who may be more susceptible to COVID-19 and its consequences, including the elderly and those with underlying health conditions. We advise all participants to take extra precautions to protect themselves and these vulnerable individuals.

    If you are feeling unwell, please self-isolate for at least 24 hours before attending the conference.
