Mission & Vision

Mission 

The BLK in the South Summit mission is to bring together local community members, Southern HIV activists, and national movement leaders to discuss the impact of HIV on the Black community in the Southern United States. It is a one-day convening designed to address pressing issues and provide ideas, concepts, and frameworks for working together to end the AIDS epidemic in the Black community in the South.

Vision

To unite the Black community in their fight against HIV in the South through an innovative and collaborative convening.

Objectives

  1. To convene local community members, Southern HIV activists, and national movement leaders to discuss the impact of HIV on the Black community in the Southern United States.

  2. To interrogate the Black communities’ responses to HIV and AIDS and how it can improve. 

  3. To share best practices of innovation and collaboration on how the Black community in the South has addressed HIV.

  4. To curate an experience of joy for local community members, Southern HIV activists, and national movement leaders
